Join me (Helen Dardik) and three immensely talented artists (Carolyn Gavin, Monica Forsberg & Victoria Johnson) for an intimate full day of painting flowers.

We will be focusing on a variety of techniques, materials and topics, including:

  • learning to work with structure vs. without structure

  • painting from imagination vs. painting from life

  • developing an individual approach to color

  • how to mix media/materials for best results

  • composition

  • monochrome schemes

  • scanning, photography, recording & sharing

This workshop is open to all levels - from beginners to seasoned artists.

The higher the mountain - the more excited we are to climb it.

Lunch, wine and snacks will be provided.

Carolyn Gavin is a painter, Illustrator and surface pattern designer. A flower child of the 60’s, Carolyn grew up in South Africa, left to travel and relocated to Toronto, Canada. Vibrant, playful and happy are perfect words to describe her style. Carolyn works in Gouache, water-colour, pen and ink, finding inspiration in travel, flowers, exotic colour and pattern. Carolyn makes sure her life is filled with beauty and creativity.

Monika Forsberg was born and raised in a coastal city in Swedish Lapland. She moved to the UK to study animation at the Royal College of Arts and later became an illustrator. Her work has been described as technicolored fantasies.

Victoria is an English artist/designer in Rome. She lives there with her Italian husband and two children. Previously, she lived in New York for twelve years, owning and running a design studio in New York and London. Her approach is very experimental, exploring a combination of traditional and digital techniques. The emphasis is always on beautiful, harmonious colour. Over the course of a long career, her work has featured on a variety of products, from women's and children's apparel, to paper products, home furnishings and giftware.

Helen Dardik is a professional illustrator and a surface/pattern designer based in Canada. Vibrant, folksy, playful toomuchery is a perfect way to describe her style. Born by the Black Sea, Helen lived in Siberia for a time and then moved to Israel, where she studied art and design. In the early nineties she relocated to Canada, where she got a graphic design degree and found work as a designer and illustrator.
